Taking A Short Break

I'm coming clean. I've been having groggy days (pulsating eyebags, feverish head--signs of very late nights) because I've been watching Korean TV soap dramas. It started last week when a friend lent me a few sets of Korean TV drama VCDs. I fast-forwarded the first disc (I can't stand long-drawn dramatic episodes) but it still took me 4 hours to finish! Do people who watch these things have a life?! Ahem. Of course by that time, I got hooked on the story--revenge, transformation & rise of a dowdy housewife (every scorned woman's fantasy) on her husband, mistress and his awful parents--and I can't wait to finish all 8 discs. I'm at disc no. 5, still fast-forwarding half the time but not as much because the discs freeze after too much fast-forwarding. I hope I haven't spoilt them. Anyway, we've been eating out a lot because of dinner invitations and I promise I'll be back  once I get through the discs. I still have two other sets of VCDs but I think I'll return  them unwatched. I have to claim my life back...Meantime, here's a joke I received in my mail:

HAHAHAHAHA I can imagine a few people answering like that already...

Who's acting in the series? No wonder you were telling me about how beautiful Korean girls' skins are and how their makeup looks the most natural. I'm so tempted to get La Mer moisturiser now...

your father is one?

yes i love la mer products, swear by them. get it. btw, rba has put me on wait list so i can stay back with u. i think 18th july is good bc i really cant imagine staying away so long.but u can always stay on in london n go back to melb from there. if u travel by rba with me, it doesn't go to melb, only brisbane, sydney n perth.

i dunno the actresses n actors. the bad girl looks like a thai tranny. the good handsome guy looks like ah hing jiew, but better.the main actress is ok, a bit boring. if it was song hye kyo, i'll not f-forward, i'd savor every second of the movie.

Hi Terri,

What is the title of the drama. Sounds interesting. I normally watch the few first episodes then jump to the last episode (ending) and then watch the middle part again whenever I have time. If I don't watch the ending, i cannot stop watching. I might be crazy but watching the ending first is the solution.

I can never understand the obsession with these korean or Taiwan dramas. I am not sure about others but my life is one helluva drama itself..Hahahahahaha...

Everyday is wake up at 5.30am, get ready breakfast and lunch for my daughter, water the plants, feed the cats, get ready to work, go to work, brave the traffic and workload and cranky bosses and idiots, take orders for my cakes on the side, rush home, brave traffic again, yak with my daughter while I get dinner ready, eat, wash up, get my cakes order on its way.. by the time I drop is midnight or later.

So, I suppose I am drama enough and most definitely no time for any other dramas!

By the way, I enjoy reading your blog

Haha Terri...it's called guilty pleasure and we are all entitled to ours doses. I used to be obsessive abt Cantonese serials, and now I am into box-sets. I have 4 seasons of Dexter - I can't wait to surrender my waking hrs and sanity to the idiot box. Enjoy yourself to the maximum

It is kind of confusing. The Korean series, they are so hooked into it.

linda: the title in english is 'temptation of wife'. in chinese, it's as johanathan pointed out. oh i can never watch the beginning n the end n then the middle, no, tt'll spoil the story for me!

javapot: 'temptation of wife'. i'm told it's on astro now.

bunnies: ah, what u hav is a busy life but not a korean drama life. there's plot, revenge, secrets, vindication, love, lots of dramatic twists n happenings tt normal ppl like u n me can't go thru w/o going mad.

tracie: rings a bell?

hungryc: yes, it's so addictive. i was also looking forward to night time (bc my mom hoards the tv during the day) just to watch the drama. i have two more 'box sets' but i am not sure if i shd start on them.

jade: men!

anon: i will keep tt two titles in mind...

johanathan: u wathced them too? i found the middle parts too vengeful n began to dislike the heroine. but the ending was good, thank goodness. i sorta wished the ending was bad so tt i'll stay away frm korean dramas for the next 10 years.

bbo: i hope it doesn't become a hobby...

agnes: i've got more...

dining roomtable: hmm.i am confused now. who's hooked?
