The reason why we cut short our London trip and flew to Nederlands earlier than planned was because the famous tulips garden, Keukenhof, was closing on 16 May. So on that very last day, we went to Keukenhof, something I've always wanted to do.
The tulips were past their prime but still very beautiful. There were so many variance in colors, sizes and petals. It lightened my heart walking through the gardens. At the exit was a large display of other flowers such as lilies, geraniums, cyclamens and many more.
A round trip bus fare from Rotterdam plus the entrance fee to Keukenhof (ask at the special counter. If you buy the bus fare and entrance fee separately, it's more expensive) costs 21 euros. Include the cost of travelling to Rotterdam and your're looking at about 30 euros per pax, a bit pricey to look at tulips which are everywhere in the florists and the parks. I would be happier in fields of tulips (you see acres and acres of them from the train) than in manicured gardens. I should have seen the Chelsea Flower Show in England instead but unfortunately the timing wasn't right because the show was held end of May. Ah well.
