Happy Valentine

Guys, if you are married, chances are your wives will be like me and tell you not to be silly to spend so much $ but deep down inside she's longing for you to show 'ain't no costs high enough' as far as she's concerned. So, like it or not, BUY HER FLOWERS, *****.

Hi, I stumbled across your blog lately, and it has since been added onto my "favorites'. I enjoy your food blog alot, and just by reading your blog makes me feel closer to "home", as I'm from KK too but have been living in S'pore the last 13years..I was in KK during the CNY, had lotsa food & laughter with my fmly back home, just can't wait to go back again. anyway, just wanna let u know that I really like those food shots u took, they look fantastic with nice composition and lighting. Just wondering if u would share with me the technical aspect of your photo shooting skills on food photos in particular. cheers & God bless!

daisy: happy Valentine and CNY to the Davises too. er..so many places to go so little dollars. hm. i think this year we might make it there bc the $ has dropped. how about meeting at ur Auntie Chai's instead, halfway?

ekeng: it was:0 . no gf yet? well u saved $ on flowers.

anony:hi there! u know, everytime i hear somebody's frm Sing, i always ask the same Q: where do u get the best Sing laksa? pls don't tell me Katong 378 or smthing like tt bc i went there n it was yukky.too much santan n not much 'liao'.

?? i'm so frustrated with my photo skills, i've been hinting to Hub tt i will improve IF i get an SLR. but i know it's not the camera so much but the person behind it.

i find lighting the most difficult of all. i cook mostly at night n it's too dark to get a good shot so i fiddle with the white balance, use a tripod reluctantly (too lazy) n my camera, a Panasonic FZ50, has a food mode tt allows more light in. sometimes i use a bowl or a book instead of a tripod, haha. sometimes use a spot light. but my pics turn out best taken daytime, esp morning, in my back patio. rasa malaysia (on my links) takes fantastic pics n she recommends using white plates and background. another lighting tip i've learnt is to make sure light falls onto the front of the food, ie away from the camera. i like pics tt are not too madeover or 'dead' perfect bc tt's what all d pros do n to me, a naturalness is lost. tt's my 2 cents, i hope it helps but do write so we can share tips/ideas!:)

mike: aw. alexa n u r so sweet!!thanks for making my day.

nee: aiya, u r the teacher when it comes to cakes! hey, if i visit u in April, do i get to eat ur prune lapis cake?? i'll never forget the taste! heavenly!

bryan : thank u, so sweet. hm. didn't u read my post? he used to send me flowers until i was stupid to suggest he needn't get any bc they were so expensive on V Day. i do have a huge bouquet of carnations (!) but it was frm his cousin (who's visiting frm Shanghai) who gave it to her husband for his birthday celebration last night at Royal Palace. they gave it to me bc they went to Sipadan today.i realise tt it's not the flowers, it's really the thought tt counts bc altho i love flowers, this bunch don't move me bc they weren't meant for me...n oh, a single rose frm -drum roll- Royal Palace. how's tt for romance.

denise: d cake was for Hub's cousin's husband, who was celebrating his birthday early! u think i want to make cake for hub if i don't get flowers ah?? - he could've sent me ONE rose n he wouldn't have to sleep in the doghouse last night.. just for info, Yi told me all her male colleagues did not send their wives/gf flowers! n i thot only chinaman not romantic.
